This resonates deeply. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the systems we’re told to trust career ladders, marriage, suburban stability, even the pursuit of “success” as defined by others. I’ve stepped away from a lot of that, not because I’m lost, but because I’ve started questioning if any of it ever made sense to begin with. Your line “Out here, there are no fish” really hit me. That’s how it feels trying to raise kids with real values, lead with integrity, and still chase something meaningful when the returns aren’t guaranteed or even understood. I’ve come to believe the silence we meet when we step off the beaten path isn’t empty it’s what forces us to hear ourselves.
